Gender Affirming Care

Menopause and Peri-menopause

“Menopause & Peri-menopause: Removing mystery from the midlife transition”

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize common clinical presentations of menopause and peri-menopause

  • List basic lab work and tests necessary for diagnosis and assessment of treatment options

  • Identify risk categories of people for Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT)

  • Describe signs, symptoms and assessment

  • Explain hormonal and non-hormonal treatment options

  • Recognition of MHT and prescribing guidelines

  • Explain diagnosis and treatment of genitourinary syndrome of menopause

  • Describe non-hormonal therapies and appropriate use for menopause and genitourinary syndrome

Presentations are adaptable for clinical providers in gynecologic care and primary care settings and can benefit healthcare providers, nurses, residents and students.

Depending on the scope of the inquiry, the presentations can be modified between one and three hours in length.

All presentations are gender inclusive, sex positive, trauma informed and align with health at every size (HAES) and size diversity frameworks, and challenge the medical hierarchical status quo.

Case studies will be tailored to the audience.
